Writer's Block
Fresh Excuses
Those of you silly folk that have complimented my writing skills have no idea the 'get out of jail free card' you have given me. Because you see my friends, anytime a good writer turns out some worthy material, they are expected to hit a road block. Yes, Nancy Drew, writer's block. However, I am feeling back on track. I turned out seventeen pages on the screenplay yesterday and only changed about three of them. One new poem that could be rated as decent. And a fairly touching birthday letter to the matriarch. She turned 51 last week...hehehehehehehehe! Some days are just humorous all on their own.
Anyway, newsworthy updates from Fairbanks:
1. The four-legger is losing his puppy coat; resulting in coworkers suspicious of a possible genetic link for me and a real life Teen-Wolf
2. The white stuff is here to stay, this we know. But yesterday we got a little wash down, that I am familiar with from my 'Dallas Days', also known as freezing rain. Spray a little of that on top of snow. Oh yeah, 0.8 miles from work to home....2 almost bust-my-ass slips in parking lot, 4 slides in rental car (no hits, but close) 17 minute commute, and yes a final/successful bust-my-ass once front door was almost in my sweet reach.
3. Old reliable survived the boat ride. AKA Jewel is here. Okay, okay I'll explain. My trusty little Chevy Prism has arrived from Oregon. Make fun of make/model I will re-evaluate friendship status. I have missed my little car. Now you may ask why in update #2 I referred to still having rental car. Jewel (yes, the car has a name) must be Alaska-ized. Ask any local, it's a word. She needs heater pans installed and winter tires. I am pretty sure that the cost of shipping and prepping for winter equals roughly 3 times her worth. Hey, if anything, I am loyal to all things reliable.
4. Must find exercise source for Blondie. Good dog, of course, but not all too interested in freezing temperature walks or dog park trips. Open to suggestions.
5. Northern Lights: google it if you need info. Pretty amazing anytime you can see them. But, on Saturday, I got to see color for the first time. Frequently, you see white/green which is amazing, of course. Spectacular is purple and a bit of green. Totally worth getting off couch, covered by 2 comforters and watching Roseanne reruns.
So, updates laced with excuses, and I am off to work. Wishes for a great Wednesday to all.
